Dr. Mark Prince OBE

Founder

Dr Mark Prince is Founder of the Kiyan Prince Foundation, a charity borne out of pain, suffering and grief. Through a series of personal challenges (homelessness, drugs and alcohol abuse and criminal activity); triumphs and tragedy, the then known Mark Prince, developed a burning desire to support young people embroiled in a downward spiral of urban violence. The devastating tragedy of his son’s murder in 2006 further confirmed the importance of early intervention in a young person’s life in order to prevent what often seems like an inevitable journey into despair.

In recognition of the significant contribution to the community and fight against knife crime, Dr. Prince has received several well – deserved awards e.g. The Children’s Champion Award from Prime Minister Gordon Brown; an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Excel University; and recently in the Queen’s New Year Honours list (2019) to receive an OBE.

Jon Guymer

Director of Operations

As the Head of Operations at The Kiyan Prince Foundation, I leverage my extensive retail banking experience and skills to oversee the day to day running of the charity along with the financial operations and strategic planning. I am passionate about the foundation’s mission to empower young people and prevent knife crime through education, mentoring, and sports.

With over thirty years of branch management at Barclays Bank UK, I have developed a strong portfolio of commercial and personal banking clients, delivered high-quality customer service, and managed risk and compliance effectively. I have also led multiple teams to achieve and exceed performance targets, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Gary Castle

Coach

My journey into boxing began with my grandad, a Royal Navy boxer who inspired me with his passion and achievements. As a young boy, I was captivated by the stories he shared and the medals he won, including the Nore Command Championship against the combined forces of China. His playful sparring sessions and unwavering spirit fuelled my dream to follow in his footsteps.

Over 50 years ago, I ran away to join the Navy, seeking adventure, discipline, and the chance to box while traveling the world. After decades of exploring, I returned to boxing 8 years ago, rediscovering my passion for the sport. Now retired, I’ve embraced a new purpose: helping young people unlock their potential through the structure and discipline that boxing provides.

In many ways, I’ve become my grandad—the mentor and inspiration he was to me. My mission is to give back, empowering the next generation to pursue their dreams with focus, determination,
